John Carter, husband of Margaret Carter, has not been well lately. Mike Zyne, who resides at Fairhaven Nursing Home, had surgery, but is now back at Fairhaven and recuperating very well. Liz Winter MEMBER CARE REPORT FEBRUARY 24, 2010 We have good news from Jim Anchors and Jim Rooker. Jim Anchors is back at church and singing in the choir. Jim Rooker had his stent surgery last week and is now at home and feeling much better. John and Margaret Carter are doing well, even though John fell recently, but he has no broken bones. Gail Rollins has been caring for her mother who had a malignancy removed from her face (14 stitches), and her mom is recuperating very well. Carol Yeager is having some tests for back problems. Please continue to remember Frances Williamson in the loss of her husband, Hugh Williamson. Please contact me or Dora Brandt if you have a change in e-mail address or telephone number. Also, we need to know if there are retirees who are confined to their home or a nursing home facility. Liz Winter MEMBER CARE REPORT SEPTEMBER 1, 2009 John Carter has finished his radiation treatments. He tires very easily and is working to renew his strength. His urologist and radiology oncologist said they would see him in a month. Jack Goertz is now 100%. Jim Coleman had radiation treatments in June and July, and the treatments are now completed. Don Smaha suffered a broken ankle, but he is up and about. Jim Rooker will undergo a procedure to install a shunt in about six months. Gail Rollins continues to recover from her back surgery. Liz Winter MEMBER CARE COMMITTEE REPORT JULY 27, 2009 Jack Goertz suffered a fractured pelvis in June. No surgery was required, and he should be off crutches by July 27 if all goes well. Liz Winter MEMBER CARE COMMITTEE REPORT JULY 24, 2009 On Monday, July 13, Gail Rollins reported she is recuperating from her surgery and was scheduled to have 24 staples removed. She had 3 fused discs and one disc removed. John Carter will receive radiation today and one next week, and then his treatments should be completed. I had foot surgery on Wednesday, July 15, and will be walking with a shoe for about six weeks. Liz Winter MEMBER CARE COMMITTEE REPORT JUNE 25, 2009 Update from Margaret and John Carter: John will begin radiation on the obstruction in his bladder next Monday. He will be radiated five days a week for approximately four or five weeks. The reason we have not been able to hear what is ahead of him until today is that Dr. Moody said his case was so complicated they did not want to rush into anything that would work against him. He will continue to get a shot for anemia to help build him up. Please continue to keep us in your prayers. Margaret JUNE 15, 2009 Gail Robbins will have back surgery at SE Alabama Medical Center in Dothan on June 29. She will probably be in the hospital two to three days. Please remember her. If anyone would like to contact Gail, please let me know. John Carter, Margaret's husband, has a blockage in the bladder. He has had a CAT scan and a shot for anemia. They are still waiting for doctors to decide when and what treatment would be best for John. Both John and Margaret would appreciate your remembering them. Dan Wise, your newsletter editor, had retinal surgery on May 17. He reports that aside from being temporarily blind in one eye, he is doing well. Liz Winter FEBRUARY 23, 2009 Sharon Long, Cheryl Lowery's daughter, reported that her mom did great with recent surgery. They had to take 10% of her kidney. It was cancerous, but was contained to just the kidney. No chemo or radiation are planned at this time. Liz Winter MEMBER CARE COMMITTEE REPORT FEBRUARY 1, 2009 Nell King Larson's daughter is doing very well and is back at work after cancer treatment. Jackie Imbusch is at home recovering from recent shoulder surgery. Her daughter-in-law, Vickie, has had more problems with cancer. Also, Vickie's father passed away recently.
